Travel Club members due to go on the holiday with walking in Menorca, 11th to 18th May, are no doubt reviewing the medium term weather forecasts hoping for good holidaying and walking conditions.  There will be a report on this in a subsequent newsletter.

Another group will be looking forward a little more to the Stockholm and Copenhagen trip, 13th to 19th September.  While all the single places on this Riviera Tours trip have been taken (and the Groups’ staff review the list every day in case another single place becomes available) there are still places for those occupying double rooms.  If anyone wishes to sign up for this trip they should let me know and I will give them more information.

Travel Group members have been told of the Great Baddow and Galleywood U3A Travel Club trip to Yorkshire, 12th – 16th July, based in Leeds.  Visits are planned to the National Memorial Arboretum, the Rennie Mackintosh designed house at 78, Derngate, Lister Park with its David Hockney Gallery, and Southwell where there will be a tour of Southwell Workhouse. There will be guided tours of the Hepworth Wakefield Gallery, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Ripon Cathedral, Fountains Abbey and Newby Hall and Gardens plus a Blue Badge guide around Saltaire.  The Baddow and Galleywood U3A Travel Club have sufficient members signed up for this definitely to go ahead and if any Chelmsford U3A members are interested, let me know and I will give you more information.

The Committee continue to give thought to the suggestion that as a summer social event we go out for a picnic at Hylands Park.

The next Group meeting is on Thursday, 31st May 2018 at 2pm at Christ Church, New London Road, Chelmsford
